Our marmots have woken up!
This means that spring has finally arrived!
Marmots emerge from their burrows when the snow thaws. Usually there’s not much food around, so for the first two weeks they almost never eat, just use their fat supplies. In this period their digestive system restores, and they get ready for breeding.
When marmots leave their burrow for the first time, they hide the earth seal inside, so that the entrance wouldn’t be too noticeable. When they fatten a little bit, they start cleaning and renovating their burrows and then begin mating.
