Dear friends,

We invite you to the Zoo to see the little mandrill, the most brightly colored primate on Earth! Our mandrills have an offspring. The little one is about two months old now, and it is still suckling mother’ milk and spends all the time on the mother’s body, gripping its hair tightly, and crawls off very seldom and for very short periods of time. The mother takes great care of the little one and does not let it go away even for a second, so we still do not know its sex. Soon the little one will try the adults’ food, but it will become fully independent only at the age of three years old, and even after that it will come back to the mother to have a rest at night. The father’s name is Kumba, 19 years old, it comes from Czech Republic, and the mother’s name is Kitchi, 21 – it came to our zoo from Budapest. They have many children, and this offspring is already the 5th and all brothers and sisters live in our zoo, and all of them are very friendly towards the new family member. If you wish to know these wonderful animals better, please come and visit our Primate House; on Tuesday at 1 p.m. there will be a special meeting with the keepers.
